Connectivity for Oil, Gas & Energy
Energy operations span remote fields, plants, terminals and international offices, often in the most demanding locations on earth. Delta Communications keeps field operations, control systems and corporate networks connected reliably, wherever they are.
The challenge
Energy companies must:
- link remote and offshore sites, refineries, plants and pipelines with head offices and operations centres
- carry operational and SCADA/OT traffic securely, separated from corporate IT traffic
- maintain uptime for 24/7 operations where an outage can halt production or create safety risk
- connect joint-venture partners and contractors across borders
- move large data sets, such as seismic, engineering and monitoring data, between sites and the cloud
Reaching difficult locations with resilient, high-capacity connectivity is a constant challenge. It usually means combining several carriers and access technologies, including satellite and microwave links where fibre doesn't reach.
How Delta Communications helps
| Need | Service | Role in the network |
|---|---|---|
| Operations centre ↔ international offices | IPLC | Dedicated, private, high-capacity links |
| Private site-to-site network, OT kept separate | MPLS & Ethernet Private Line | Prioritised private connectivity with traffic separation and QoS |
| Distributed and remote sites over mixed access | SD-WAN | One managed overlay across whatever transport each site has, with automatic failover |
| Remote, desert and offshore sites without fibre | Satellite or microwave links | Connectivity where terrestrial access doesn't reach, managed alongside the rest of the network |
| Cloud, SaaS and corporate internet | Dedicated Internet Access | Uncontended, SLA-backed internet |
Separating OT and IT traffic
Operational technology, meaning control systems, telemetry and SCADA, needs different handling from email and business apps. We design networks that keep OT traffic on dedicated private circuits or separate MPLS VPNs, with the highest priority, while corporate traffic uses its own paths. Separation limits exposure and protects critical traffic when links are congested.
A typical scenario
An energy company runs its regional headquarters in the UAE, an operations centre in another GCC country, and field sites and offices across the Middle East and Africa. A private IPLC links headquarters and the operations centre. MPLS connects plants and major offices, with OT traffic in its own VPN. SD-WAN brings remote sites into the same managed network over whatever local access is available, with satellite or microwave links at sites that have no fibre. Our 24/7 NOC is the single point of contact across all carriers.
Why energy operators choose Delta
- Resilient reach to remote and international sites over top-tier carrier backbones.
- Vendor-neutral engineering for the best route and price, with redundancy built in.
- 99.9% uptime SLA, a 24/7 NOC and a single point of contact.
- Global coverage across the Middle East, Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Americas and Africa.
Frequently asked questions
Can you connect very remote or offshore sites?
Yes. Where fibre or other terrestrial access is not available, we can supply satellite or microwave links. We design each site around the access available, and can combine satellite or microwave with terrestrial circuits for backup.
Can OT and corporate traffic share one network?
They can share infrastructure while staying logically separate, for example in different MPLS VPNs with different priorities. Critical OT traffic can also run on its own dedicated circuit.
What happens if a field site's link fails?
With SD-WAN and a secondary link, traffic fails over automatically. Our NOC then works with the underlying carrier to restore the primary.
Keep every site connected, wherever it operates.
